Step 3: Assemble the Gimbap

  1. Place a sheet of nori shiny side down on a bamboo mat.
  2. Spread a thin, even layer of rice over the nori, leaving about 2 inches at the top.
  3. Lay the fillings horizontally across the rice.
  4. Use the bamboo mat to roll the gimbap tightly from the bottom, applying gentle pressure to keep the roll firm.
  5. Seal the edge of the nori with a bit of water.
  6. Repeat with the remaining sheets of nori and fillings.

Step 4: Slice and Serve

  1. Lightly coat a sharp knife with sesame oil to prevent sticking.
  2. Slice the gimbap roll into bite-sized pieces.
  3. Sprinkle with sesame seeds for garnish and serve with soy sauce for dipping if desired.
